The Second Foundation Group is an international energy trading company with around 400 employees based in Prague (Czech Republic), Zug (Switzerland), Mainz and Berlin (Germany), Charlotte (USA), and Tokyo (Japan). We specialize in the physical trading of electricity across 21 markets in Europe, North America, and Asia. 
 
We focus on integrating and optimally marketing renewable energies and battery storage within the electricity market. Since 2023, the Second Foundation Group has been investing in its assets, particularly battery storage systems. With a portfolio of 15 battery storage projects with a capacity of over 500 MW, our next goal is to establish ourselves as a leading owner and operator of battery storage systems in Germany. Innovative and efficient storage solutions pave the way for deeper integration of renewable energy sources.

We are looking for a curious and motivated Working Student – Energy System Analyst (m/f/d) to join our team in Berlin. This part-time position (15–20 hours per week) is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy sector while continuing your studies. 

What would you work on? 

  • Assist in the analysis of electrical energy systems in Germany and other European markets.
  • Support the modelling of grid topologies, electricity consumption and supply, and grid development plans. 
  • Evaluate grid congestion, redispatch scenarios, and connection capacities for renewable energy sources (RES) and battery energy storage systems (BESS). 

What makes you a great candidate? 

  • You're enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g. Industrial or Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy). 
  • You understand how energy systems work — technically and economically. 
  • You enjoy working with data and have some experience in modelling, ideally using Python. 
  • You're fluent in German and English.
  • You're available 15–20 hours per week and able to be onsite in our office in Berlin.
  • You're proactive, curious, and enjoy being part of a collaborative and dynamic team.
