Independent Power Producer
Second Foundation owns and operates a portfolio of renewable power plants. Direct ownership enables us to innovate, for example by providing ancillary services on renewables, and ensures we understand the owner’s perspective across the full project lifecycle. Our BESS program is substantial, and in this area we selectively partner with major co-investors.

We carefully source hardware components and complement them with our own software for maximum performance and maximum control.

Proprietary Software and Data
We develop our own Battery Management System and Power Plant Controller, which makes all the difference when it comes to optimization. Furtermore, we use our own cloud for the data ensuring we are in control and the data doesn't leave EU by default.

Deep Battery Knowledge
Our own BMS gives us intimate knowledge of the battery down to individual battery cells. Thanks to this we are able to optimize better towards trading goals or battery lifecycle goals.

Surgical Precision
Having large data set from a number of projects, and collecting telemetry down to a single cell gives us ability to optimize battery with a great efficiency. This makes our multi-market optimization to yield exceptional results.

Secure by Design
Every battery uses software and data management of our own making to secure ourselves against cyber-terrorism and malicious actors. Furthermore, we partnered with GAZ ENERGY that assembles batteries in the Czech Republic to supply us with EU-made integrated BESS.
