The Second Foundation Group is an international energy trading company with around 400 employees based in Prague (Czech Republic), Zug (Switzerland), Mainz and Berlin (Germany), Charlotte (USA), and Tokyo (Japan). We specialize in the physical trading of electricity across 21 markets in Europe, North America, and Asia. 

We focus on integrating and optimally marketing renewable energies and battery storage within the electricity market. Since 2023, the Second Foundation Group has been investing in its assets, particularly battery storage systems. With a portfolio of 15 battery storage projects with a capacity of over 500 MW, our next goal is to establish ourselves as a leading owner and operator of battery storage systems in Germany. Innovative and efficient storage solutions pave the way for deeper integration of renewable energy sources.

We are looking for a dynamic Investment Engineer with strong project management and technical expertise to support the realization of energy infrastructure projects across Europe. This role blends engineering oversight with hands-on project coordination, primarily acting on the investor’s side to ensure EPC project success. You’ll be part of a high-impact team driving energy transition investments, with a strong focus on renewables and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems). 

What would you work on? 

  • Represent the investor in EPC projects across Europe, ensuring alignment of design, execution, budget, and timelines. 
  • Coordinate and oversee external stakeholders including EPC contractors, technical consultants, and local partners. 
  • Perform or manage technical due diligence on potential projects in the acquisition pipeline. 
  • Lead or coordinate the preparation of technical solution analyses, including feasibility reviews and optimization studies. 
  • Ensure project delivery meets budget, schedule, and quality expectations. 
  • Support procurement and contract reviews from a technical standpoint. 
  • Monitor construction and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and investor interests. 
  • Provide regular reporting on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies. 

What makes you a great candidate? 

  • 5+ years of experience in EPC project environments in the energy sector (renewables preferred). 
  • Proven ability to manage project delivery in a client/investor-side capacity. 
  • Engineering degree (Electrical or similar preferred); equivalent technical diploma with relevant experience also considered. 
  • Strong project management skills with a hands-on approach. 
  • Fluent in English (required); Czech, German, or other European languages ar significant advantages. 
  • Strong understanding of technical, financial, and contractual aspects of energy infrastructure projects. 
  • Passion for the energy transition, with a special interest in renewables and battery storage. 
  • Willingness to travel across Europe (up to 1 week/month).
